Our History

Begun in 1971 under the leadership of its founding shepherd, Ed Petersen and a team of elders, Neighborhood has grown from a small Bible study to a church.

Having met in various locations over its history including the Fair Grounds, Anderson River Park, and the Seventh Day Adventist Church building in Anderson, the church has remained at its modest but attractive and practical facilities at the top of the hill on Rhonda Road in South Anderson for almost 30 years.

Neighborhood remains committed to its mission of “Inspiring among all peoples an overflowing joy in God through Jesus Christ.” This commitment has fueled both local ministries and an intentional missions program supporting several missionaries as well as sending lay people and pastoral staff on cross-cultural ministry trips.
