Who’s New to the Neighborhood? - The Sater's

by Barbara DeCofano

satsLeslie was born in Spreckels, California, and Pat in Cottonwood. They met while going to Chico State, fell in love and were married in 2001. They have attended NCAC for over a year. The couple has four children: Casey 8, Luke, almost 7, Emily 4 (a.k.a. Peanut), and Molly 17 months.

Pat works for the California Fish & Game as a Wildlife Habitat Assistant, which caused their family to move many times. I’m talking “Big City” life such as Salinas, Spreckels, Mammoth Lake, Gridley, Paynes Creek, and finally back to Cottonwood.

Pat and Leslie received Christ at Mammoth Lake, where Pat was baptized. Leslie was baptized at age six, while Pat had no religious background.

Leslie is a stay-at-home mom and plans to home school their children. She and the children love the old hymns and try to learn a new one weekly. Leslie’s favorite Bible verse is Hebrews 13:5: “Keep your life free from the love of money and be content with what you have, for He has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Pat’s verse is Eph. 2:8.

Pat attends Nick Braito’s Men’s Discipleship Group, and both go to the Braito’s Home Group. The children are involved in AWANA.

While living in Paynes Creek, the Saters commuted an hour each way to attend NCAC before moving to Cottonwood. They chose our church through researching the internet.

The family enjoys the great outdoors. Together they love to hunt, hike, fish and occasionally camp.

Recently the children have been involved in raising chickens (peeps) from eggs to birth as a school project. A cat named Chico is also part of the family.

NCAC is fortunate to be growing with members such as the Saters, whose Christian values are so strong and God-centered.
